Up Early
Managed to get myself to sleep at midnight with the help of half an Ambien CR (thanks, Mom) but was wide awake at 5:30 a.m. Had some honey nut Cheerios and went back to bed, but no luck. So I decided to go to the Kindle and find some of the stories from the pictures and sculptures I saw yesterday at the Galleria Borghese. Aeneas carrying Anchises (the Aeneid), Apollo and Daphne (Metamorphoses), David and Goliath (Bible), the Rape of Persephone (Metamorphoses). Susanna and the Elders turns out to be an apocrophal Bible story (added to the end of the Book of Daniel) and I can't source Danae and the shower of gold (although Wikipedia has the full version). And even this didn't put me back to sleep. Louise and the kids are due to land at 7:36 a.m. (less than half an hour from now) and if all goes well they should be here about an hour later. Can't wait!
